Chen Yang

Undergraduate Student

Chen Yang received a BS degree in Biology with a minor in Mathematics from Georgia State University in Atlanta (2022), as well as a BE degree in Bioengineering from Southwest Jiaotong University in China (2022). While in the lab, Chen helped with the Legionella in Washington DC project as well as the excess mortality in Ukraine project, which resulted in corresponding publications, where Chen was a co-author.

In general, Chen has interests in the interdisciplinary fields of biostatistics and data science. As an intern at the CDC and Quest Diagnostics, Chen Yang had the opportunity to explore her interest in working with healthcare data. She has also taken numerous remarkable courses at prestigious institutions like Harvard and MIT, including Machine Learning for Healthcare and Statistical Learning. Through various projects focused on mortality prediction using EHR, Imaging, Nursing notes, and Lab testing datasets, she has gained practical expertise in data science solutions. Additionally, Chen Yang actively participated in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition, which provided her with valuable research experience in understanding different disease mechanisms and conducting modeling analysis.

Following her undergraduate studies at Georgia State University, Chen Yang continued her educational journey as a Master of Science student in Biostatistics at Harvard University in Boston, MA.
