Jimin Son is enrolled in a Master of Public Health program with a focus on Biostatistics at Georgia State University, where she is currently advancing her knowledge in the field of public health. Her interest in public health began during her undergraduate studies in bio-nanotechnology, where she built a strong foundation in biological sciences and the role of technology in enhancing health outcomes.
While working at NSF International in the Water Division, Jimin's interest in public health deepened as she learned about public health standards and the vital role of research and regulation in safeguarding community health. This role, which emphasized the necessity of data analysis and evidence-based policy for preventing health crises, guided her toward a unique career path that merges science, technology, and public health. Her journey continued in a biotechnology company, where she immersed herself in clinical research and developed a strong interest in statistical methodologies. In this role, she directly saw how statistics and computational analysis could significantly improve research and patient care. This insight was crucial in shaping her goals in public health, showing her the value of statistical computing in advancing the sector.
Under the guidance of Dr. Alexander Kirpich and equipped with a bio-nanotechnology foundation, Jimin aims to leverage her growing expertise in biostatistics and bioinformatics, along with her direct experience in clinical research, to become a prominent biostatistician in the field of public health research.
