Pema Lhewa, MPH, has a rich academic and professional background in public health and infectious diseases. As a Graduate Research Assistant at Georgia State University's School of Public Health, he worked under the guidance of Dr. Kirpich on several research projects. His primary focus has been on public health and infectious diseases, where he developed a keen interest in understanding the transmission of diseases across different populations.
Before pursuing his master's degree in Atlanta, Pema completed his B.S. in Microbiology in 2023. During his undergraduate studies, he actively participated as a research assistant, contributing to projects centered around survey analysis. While his expertise primarily lies in biology and epidemiology, he has also gained valuable experience in data analysis using software such as Python, Rstudio, SAS, and Excel.
Additionally, Pema had the opportunity to collaborate with the Georgia Department of Public Health as a COVID-19 Case Investigator. In this role, he conducted numerous interviews and investigations to identify and track individuals who had tested positive for COVID-19. This experience further ignited his passion for data analysis and disease investigations, fueling his aspirations to become an epidemiologist in the future.
